The eighth and final round of the 2024 WorldSSP300 championship has now concluded at the Jerez Circuit in Spain.
Team Yamaha Motoxracing riders Emiliano Ercolani and Elia Bartolini were on track yesterday for Race 1, with the pair crossing the line fourteenth and fifteenth respectively.
Today, in the late morning and in sunny conditions, the two Italian youngsters returned to the Andalusian track for the second of the weekend’s 11-lap races.
After making a fast start when the lights went out, Ercolani and Bartolini were able to get into a good rhythm that allowed them to close in on the large leading group. Making up further ground as the race went on, Emiliano finished the race in eleventh place, followed by Elia, thirteenth, meaning that both scored championship points.
“Once again today our riders showed that they gained good experience, managing the race effectively and avoiding any mistakes to reach the points zone. I’m pleased with their growth and the team’s hard work.”
“It was a good race. I was able to catch up fast, shaking up some slower riders and moving up into the front group. All in all, I’m pleased with this final weekend that saw me make consistent progress. A big thank you to the team for all their support.”
“In today’s race I was able to maintain stronger pace than yesterday, and the final result was better too. Unfortunately, I was held up by a slower rider and it took me a while to get past him, causing me to lose contact with the leaders. I’m pleased with my race anyway, but today it was important to finish and score points. Now we turn our attention to next season. I want to thank the entire team and all our sponsors.”
