Both Ercolani and Bartolini score points in Race 1 at Jerez

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSSP300 Team is on track at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain for the eighth and final round of the Supersport 300 World Championship.

Sandro Carusi’s team is fielding young Italian riders Elia Bartolini and Emiliano Ercolani, who were already out yesterday for free practice and Superpole. In the qualifying session, Bartolini placed eighteenth with a 1’52”993, while Ercolani put in a 1’53”855 to classify twenty-sixth.

Elia therefore started the first race of this final WorldSSP300 round, which ran in the late morning, from row six, Emiliano from row nine.

Both riders made a rapid start to move into the chasing group, which was made up of around fifteen riders. As often happens in this category, the battle was as tough as it was exciting, with Ercolani and Bartolini ultimately rewarded with points when they crossed the line fourteenth and fifteenth respectively.

Tomorrow will see the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSSP300 Team back on track for the final race of the 2024 Supersport 300 season.

“Considering how practice went, scoring points in this first race is a very positive result. Our riders worked really hard and I’m sure that with the data collected today we’ll be able to be more competitive in tomorrow’s race, the last of the year.”

“A difficult race and we struggled, but we’re working well as a team and the data collected today should help us to run a good race tomorrow.”

“Starting twenty-sixth on the grid compromised my race. I got off the line well and was able to make some passes but then got caught up inside a big group of riders and was unable to establish the kind of pace I needed to reach the top ten. We’ll try again tomorrow.”
