The long summer break is almost at an end, and this weekend will see the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team return to the track for the ninth WorldSBK round and the WorldSSP300 round at the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit in France.
At previous rounds, Superbike riders Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Bahattin Sofuoglu have proved they can be consistent points-scorers and are improving their feeling with the YZF-R1 race after race. The Italian and the Turkish riders will set out to score more points in France, supported by the team’s expert technical staff.
The WorldSSP300 riders, Spaniard Marc Vich and Italian Gianmaria Ibidi, haven’t ridden their YZF-R3 machines since the last round at Misano World Circuit in June, and so they will need to work fast in Friday’s practice to find feeling with their bikes and adapt them to the French circuit. The goal for both riders is to confirm the progress seen in Italy and to move into the leading group in the race.
The circuit of Nevers Magny-Cours is located in the French countryside, close to the towns of Magny-Cours and Nevers, in Burgundy. Constructed in 1960, the track was in a state of abandon in the 80s when the Nievre department bought it and raised it to international levels. Many of its turns take the name of other circuits, like the fast Estoril corner or the Adelaide hairpin, in that they reproduce turns at those tracks. Magny-Cours has staged World Superbike since 1991, having hosted 49 races to date.
The track measures 4411 metres and incorporates 17 turns, nine of which right-handers and eight left.

“La pausa estiva è stata abbastanza lunga e quindi venerdì nelle libere di Magny-Cours ci dovremo togliere un poco di ruggine di dosso, ma sono certo che basterà poco per farmi ritrovare il feeling con la mia moto. Il nostro obiettivo è quello di fare un round in crescita come abbiamo fatto in quelli precedenti e centrare la zona punti in gara. Bisognerà anche vedere quali saranno le condizioni meteo che in Francia sono spesso mutevoli”.

Mi sono impegnato duramente in ogni uno dei giorni della pausa estiva e mi sono mancati molto sia la mia moto che l’atmosfera che si respira nel nostro box e nel paddock.
