Rain does not stop Ray from preparing from the races during practice at Assen

The Assen round is renowned for its unstable weather and low temperatures and today’s first day of action making up the third WorldSBK round at the historic Dutch track was no exception.

The morning’s first free practice ran in cloudy conditions but on a dry track. Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK rider Bradley Ray made the most of the track time, working with his technical staff to identify the best setup for his YZF R1. The young Englishman concluded the session in twentieth place with a time of 1’37”826.

FP2 began on a dry track in the afternoon, but the rain was back with 17 minutes still to go. Ray was unable to improve on his best time of the morning, concluding twentieth as a result.
Tomorrow will see the team compete in Superpole and the first race of this third WorldSBK round.

“Today’s practices were tough, characterised by very uncertain weather, but we’ve nevertheless been able to complete a good deal of work in preparation for tomorrow’s Superpole.”

“Today was difficult for everyone due to the weather, but we were able to make the most of our time on track, both in the dry and in the rain. We have a plan of action for tomorrow and just hope that the weather is a bit more consistent so that we can complete more laps in the dry. I’ve had fun anyway and want to thank the team for all their help too.”
